April 2013 Preview

Happy Easter everyone! April is definitely going to be a busy month because there are a ton of sequels being released. I am a bit overwhelmed because I have so much to read both for school and for my own enjoyment but here are a few books I am eagerly anticipating:

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster was such a rollercoaster of emotions and I absolutely loved it! Walking Disaster is the same story told from Travis’s point of view and will give the reader more insight into his character than we got in Beautiful Disaster. It definitely sounds interesting and I can’t wait to see what was going on in Travis’s head!

Release date:  April 2, 2013

Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers

Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers

Grave Mercy told the story of Ismae, a girl who joined a convent dedicated to serving Death. The sequel, Dark Triumph, is the story of Sybella, another girl who finds refuge at the convent and becomes a deadly assassin. Grave Mercy was a fascinating story so I’m very excited to read this one!

Light by Michael Grant

Light by Michael Grant

Light is the sixth book in the Gone series, a series about a town in California in which one day all of the adults disappear and the children are left alone. They are unable to escape because of a forcefield surrounding the entire town, and one by one some of the children begin to develop special powers. They have to try to care for the younger kids and find a way to survive once food begins to run out. Light is the final book in the series and I can’t wait to see how it ends!

The Elite by Kiera Cass

The Elite by Kiera Cass

The Selection was one of my favorite books of 2012, so I have been eagerly awaiting its sequel, The Elite. America is still in the competition to win Prince Maxon’s heart but she is unsure if that is what she truly wants or if her heart still remains tied to Aspen. My vote personally goes to Maxon, but I really have no idea how this is going to turn out!

I definitely need to figure out how I’m going to have the time to read all of these books! What are you looking forward to reading in April?

March 2013 Preview

Oh my goodness, this has been such a busy semester for me! If I haven’t been reading a book for school I’ve been writing papers or working, so I’ve had very little time to blog. Thank goodness Spring Break is only two weeks away so hopefully I’ll be able to catch up on my non-school reading! Here are a couple of books I’m looking forward to this month:

Requiem by Lauren Oliver

Requiem by Lauren Oliver

The Delirium trilogy is one of my favorite dystopian trilogies! Lauren Oliver writes a thrilling story that keeps you turning pages until the end. The previous book, Pandemonium, ended on a crazy cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see how everything is resolved in Requiem.

Release date:  March 5, 2013

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

The Infernal Devices trilogy is a steampunk prequel to The Mortal Instruments series, but it can still be read even if you haven’t read any of those books. I love both of these series, but I’m incredibly torn about the love triangle in this one! I honestly think I’ll be happy with however it turns out because I love all of the characters, and I can’t wait to see how the story wraps up in this final book.

Release date:  March 19, 2013

Hopefully I can catch up on my reading this month because April is going to be an even busier month for YA book releases! Which March releases are you looking forward to? Anyone else looking forward to Spring Break?

February 2013 Preview

Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile–I decided to go back to school to get a second bachelor’s degree and this was my first week back. I’ve been super busy going to school full time and working full time, and since my major is English, I’ve had a lot of reading to do for my classes and haven’t been able to get much pleasure reading let alone blog posts done. Hopefully I can figure out a way to manage my time better and get back on track!

I’ve read some really great books so far this month but here is a preview of some books that I’m excited to read this February:

Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons

Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons

Article 5 has been sitting on my shelf for awhile and since its sequel, Breaking Point, is due out soon I’ll have to bump it up on my list. Breaking Point continues the dystopian story of a girl named Ember who is living in a United States where the Bill of Rights has been revoked. It sounds like an interesting story that I’m sure I’ll love!

Release date:  February 2, 2013

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me has been on my to read list for awhile now, and now that the sequel is coming out I think it’s as good a time as any. A dystopian/post-apocalyptic series about a girl with a fatal touch definitely piqued my interest, so I am very excited to read this one!

Release date:  February 5, 2013

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Cinder, a Cinderella retelling about a cyborg girl living in futuristic Beijing, was one of my biggest surprises of last year. When I read the description it didn’t really sound like something I would like, but I decided to give it a try and it was actually really great! Cinder‘s sequel, Scarlet, is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood but still continues the story of Cinder and Prince Kai. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

Release date:  February 5, 2013

Sever by Lauren DeStefano

Sever by Lauren DeStefano

Wither was a fantastic and original story about a world where girls die at age 20 and boys die at 25. Young girls are being sold off to rich men as brides and are forced to bear children. Rhine Ellery becomes one of these girls, and tries her hardest to escape. The sequel to Wither, Fever, continues the story but in my opinion wasn’t nearly as good as the first book. Sever is the final book in the trilogy and I’m hoping it will be a great ending to the series.

Release date:  February 12, 2013

Fragments by Dan Wells

Fragments by Dan Wells

Partials is yet another book I own but have not read. A post-apocalyptic novel that takes place on Long Island, where I have lived my whole life, is definitely something I’m excited to read. I’m hoping to read Partials before the sequel, Fragments, is released.

Release date:  February 26, 2013

So it looks like February will be another exciting month for YA books! I just hope I can find the time to read all of the books I have on my list! What February releases are you looking forward to?

January 2013 Preview

2013 is definitely going to start off with a bang for YA lit! I am declaring 2013 The Year of Sequels because nearly every book that I am eagerly anticipating for next year is a sequel to something I read in 2012, The Year of Debuts. I had hoped that next year I would finally be able to start reading the 60 or so books that I own but have yet to read but upon seeing the multitude of upcoming releases for 2013 I think this will be almost impossible. There are simply too many books being released that I absolutely MUST read first!!

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

I literally just started reading Under the Never Sky and even though I’m only about thirty pages in, I’m already hooked! I waited much longer than most to read this book but the good news is that I have less time to wait before the sequel is released! The even better news is that it is released the same day I am leaving for vacation, so I now have the perfect book to read on the airplane!

Release date:  January 8, 2013

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis

This is the final book in the Across the Universe trilogy and I cannot even begin to say how excited I am to read this! Across the Universe was a stunning book about a space station in the middle of the universe and its sequel, A Million Suns was even better. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to Elder and Amy’s story!

Release date:  January 15, 2013

Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans

Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans

I’ve been a follower of Lenore’s blog for awhile now and I am very excited that her book has been published! Level 2 is the first book in The Memory Chronicles and is a story about a girl in the afterlife who spends her time reliving her memories from Earth. When she discovers that there might be a way to return to her old life and the boy she loves, she finds herself stuck in the middle of a rebellion. This sounds like a really interesting story and I can’t wait to read it!

Release date:  January 15, 2013

Asunder by Jodi Meadows

Asunder by Jodi Meadows

Incarnate was one of my all time favorite books of 2012 and one of the most original stories I’ve ever read. The whole concept of reincarnation over and over again was fascinating and I can’t wait to see how Ana’s story continues.

Release date:  January 29, 2013

Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy by Marie Lu

Legend has been on my to read list for a very long time and I have heard a lot of great things about both Legend and its sequel, Prodigy. The series is a dystopian featuring a strong female protagonist, so I’m sure I will love it. I will definitely have to read both very soon!

Release date:  January 29, 2013

The Prey by Andrew Fukuda

The Prey by Andrew Fukuda

This book is the sequel to The Hunt, which is another one of my favorites from 2012. The Hunt was a completely different take on vampires and even though I thought I was over the whole vampire craze, I absolutely LOVED it. I can’t wait to see what happens next in The Prey.
